Playground Grant VOTE by PEPSI
Vote TODAY and EVERYDAY for the Pepsi Playground Grant!
OverviewThe Brouillet Community Playground Project was started in the Summer of 2008 when it occurred to the community that the current playground was becoming unsafe, as well as having no activities for kids of pre-k age or children with special needs. This is especially important because this playground is used as our community park after school, on weekends, and during the Summer months as this is the only playground close enough for the kids in our neighborhoods to walk to. The Community petitioned the school district for space big enough for the new playground and this was accomplished although the community led by the Brouillet PTA would have to move over 200 feet of fence and raise all funds needed for the new playground. After almost two years of working towards our goal, we have moved the fence and have also raised $25,000.00 of the $75,000.00 needed for this project.

First Positive Action Recognition (PAWS)
It is important that we recognize kids for great behavior and great learning. At Brouillet teachers awarded Bobcats from each class that have been making "Good Choices" this past few months. Classrooms were also awarded classroom awards for clean rooms, morning line up, library behavior and a much more. And finally, teachers awarded students "Learning Achievement" certificates for those that demonstrated outstanding learning at their grade levels. Parents and staff should be proud of our students and the work they are doing every day, all the time.
"Reality Ride" Music
Students have been learning about the Reality Ride we are all on. We are on the track towards opportunity, self-respect and freedom, or we are stuck in a loop, or we just keep crashing. A program called Why Try? is being used by teachers to teach kids that "Choices have consequences." The program includes metaphors, songs, videos, and activities to help them think through their choices and to get on the right track.

Thank You Veterans
Brouillet students have done a variety of activities the past couple weeks to raise the awareness of our country's veterans. 5th grade students put together a program on Monday and peformed it for our student body. Students have written poems and letters to veterans. Gabby and her 3rd grade friend(picture below) shared their letters that they wrote to veterans in their family. They shared how proud they were of them and how much they missed them.
Gabby agreed to let me video tape her and read her letter aloud.

Walking Wednesday Kick-Off
WE had over 90+ kids walk to school this day, a whole bunch of family members and even some staff who helped kick-off "Walking Wednesdays" at Brouillet. Kids got stickers and walking feet. Parents got coffee and treats. Many met together at the WalMart parking lot and headed off to school in one long train. It was a beautiful crisp morning and thanks to all that showed up and for Renee who organized the event. Join us every Wednesday on Nov 18, 25, Dec 2, 9, and 15!!
