Brouillet Gives BACK to Community

In November and December, the Bobcat Service Club and staff have been giving back to their community in significant ways. A big thanks to Mrs. Larson who has been coordinating the efforts of our students.
Here are some of the winter initiatives we accomplished this year:

  • The annual food drive collected over 3000+ food items.
  • We collected 500 some cookies for troops oversees.
  • We provided 13 Thanksgiving baskets and helped many more by finding additional baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Raised $900 for United Way.
  • Collected and wrapped presents for 37 families and their 77 children for the Giving Tree.

Brouillet Marches in Puyallup Santa Parade

This year the Bobcat Service Club and Safety Patrol marched in the downtown Puyallup on Dec. 4, 2010 Christmas Parade. Mr. Farias, Mrs. Larson and Mrs. Brimhall marched with more than 35 students this year and it was a great way to welcome in the holiday cheer. They marched in the parade while blowing kazoos, jingling bells, waving glow sticks, twirling patrol flags, and giving high fives to the spectators. It was so fun, we look forward to participating again next year.

Happy Holidays!

Honoring Students Who Make the Right Choices

At Brouillet we are constantly finding ways to help students make the connection between the choices they make and the opportunities that come there way.

MAKE GOOD CHOICES
(Picture from WHY TRY? materials!)

The Reality Ride is a visual analogy that attempts to show kids and adults that the long slow ride is harder but worth it. It leads to opportunities, freedom, and self-respect. The following video is a snap shot our Fall at Brouillet and the many students who consistently are making GREAT choices.

Brouillet Students & Staff Give Back

The students and staff at Brouillet are in full swing in finding ways to help those around us. Our Brouillet Service Crew are coordinating the efforts because an important part of education is learning to help others through service learning. Here are a few of the service opportunities you can help us with:

1. Cookies for Troops: Nov. 1-9
Bobcat Service Club is asking each student to bring in at least 1 dozen store bought cookies. These cookies will be shipped to soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.
2. Food Drive: Nov. 9-22
The service club is collecting non-perishable food to provide Thanksgiving Baskets for Brouillet families, Holiday Food Baskets in December, and then stocking the shelves of our local food banks. We will accept all canned or boxed items and also Thanksgiving Feast items such as potatoes, canned yams and cranberry sauce, canned pumpkin, stuffing mix, gravy mix.... If anyone would like to donate a frozen turkey (and can store it until Nov. 22), they can contact Cheryl Larson at 841-8670.
3. Giving Tree: Nov. 22-Dec. 13
Families and community members can stop by the front foyer at Brouillet to get a gift tag with a gift idea for a Brouillet student. Gifts should be returned, unwrapped, with the gift tag taped to it no later than December 13th.

What are the SCHOOL RULES??

Some of us may think that School Rules are the things we should not be doing at school or we will get "in trouble". However, at Brouillet we focus on what students should be doing rather than what they shouldn't be doing. We call our rules RESPECT the BIG 5!

We want students to Respect:
- EACH PERSON
- LEARNING
- LANGUAGE
- PROPERTY
- PERSONAL SPACE

In an upcoming school newsletter, we will show how students can learn to work on these rules daily. No one can keep these rules unless they purposefully try and keep them. These are activities that we can all work as kids and adults. Stay tuned ...

Brouillet Bobcats are COLLEGE BOUND

Brouillet's Theme this year is "COLLEGE BOUND!" Our staff is determined and focused on preparing each child to be have the knowledge and skills they need so they can go to any college, university, trade school, or vocation that they hope for and desire. Graduation from High school is only the beginning to their future success! We are not ashamed to say, "Our Brouillet Bobcats are College Bound!"
Brouillet Elementary ... Where EVERYONE is a LEARNER!
